Subject: Just about the time.....
The picture below shows the fire where Lt. Carlin was injured.
From the looks of things, it's just about the time
that things were beginning to go bad on the inside.
If you look closely, E-8's crew is on the ladder on
the D side, they vented a window there just when
things were getting out of hand. No injured/evacuating
firefighters are in the front yard yet. The window
with fire showing is a "bonus" room directly over the
garage, where it is believed the fire started. (you
can tell the crews had knocked this fire down from the
outside prior to entry and also from inside the
house)I'm not sure how the bonus room was finished
(drywall or just studs and OSB)
There was a hose line operating from the bedroom that
is adjacent to this bonus room over the garage. Carlin
was in that room when he was burned.

From WKYT web pages: This fire was on Parson Lane in the Chilesburg Cove subdivision on Monday October 8 at 21:00. Cause was undetermined. Lt. Richard Carlin is a 12 year veteran of the Lexington Fire Department. He is a fire officer, rescue technician and a licensed paramedic. Since the injury he has been in the University of Kentucky Burn Unit. His condition was still being evaluated and he is expected to remain in the hospital for some time.
On October 12 and 19 Lt. Carlin under went surgery. He is reported to be
recuperating well.
